Our postman is a very grumpy old soul. He buzzes our buzzer in the morning, slowly grunts "postman", and dumps our post in the hallway. On occassion when we have to sign for a parcel, he just grunts and thrusts the clipboard in our general direction.
Boyfriend thinks he is a grumpy bugger.
I think that he's just lonely, and doesn't have anyone to send him letters. Especially not lovely hand written letters from friends and family far away. That sometimes come with hand drawn flowers on the envelopes. So he's jealous that other people get post. I think secretly he'd like it, if, when he got home, there was a long, scented, furtive love letter sitting, awaiting him, on his door-mat.
Or maybe he used to get letters like that in the past and doesn't anymore, and yearns for the days when he did. Instead of delivering them to other people.
Maybe I think too hard about the plight of our postman. Or maybe I'll leave him a little note thanking him for the continued delivery of post come rain or shine...
