Hoorah!

{image courtesy of Flickr user: whiskeygonebad}

I picked up a polaroid camera on Ebay for the princely sum of 99 pence! {and yes, yes, I know just how much film costs...}

Who needs digital cameras anyway?

I am a luddite at heart.

As soon as I track down some film and work out exactly how to use my scanner the fruits of my labour will be on display here!

Yay?

An idle moment...

Caught me playing dress-up...

I don't know why I own a bunny mask, but I feel every girl should own one!

Enjoy your weekend...

Boyfriend and I had a perfect Thursday, exploring the delights of the Chelsea Flower Show, so I'm not sure how my weekend can top that.

We spent 10 hours (it's that big) wandering around garden after garden, and looking at display after display, and I have to say I fell in love with almost every garden I saw.

I got lots of ideas for my future garden:

Cottage Garden Style:

Splashes of Colour:

Raised Beds:

Log Walls {a haven for wildlife as well as books!}:

Wildlife Habitats:

I think I'm going to need quite a big garden to incorporate all my ideas {these are only a fraction them...}!

Aside from the beautiful plants and floral displays, I saw and heard some might cute and funny things:

An couple in their mid-eighties, wearing matching green cardigans, sitting on a sunny hill, holding hands, looking very much in love.

An elderly lady, while looking at some tall thin plants, exclaiming to her friend that "goodness, they look phallic"!

Overhearing part of a great conversation between two ladies that went "...if we're still thinking about dragonflies when we get home...".

I was still thinking about dragonflies when I got home, but I'll be damned if I can work out the significance of it!

My lovely deer cupcake...

The lovely Nicole from My Teacups In Peony tagged me with the Deer Cupcake Award. When you get a moment you definitely should have a little wander over to her blog - it's very cute.

The Deer Cupcake Award asks me to answer the following questions: happy reading!

What is your current obsession? Definitely my new red Holga camera. Whenever I go anywhere I am constantly looking for what might make a good/interesting Holga shot.

Do you nap a lot? Far too much for my own good - whenever I can basically! I can sleep anywhere, anytime. Even on planes during takeoff.

Where are you right now? In my living room, listening to boyfriend practise guitar, and my African Grey parrot singing "Who Let the Dogs Out?" completely out of tune. I didn't teach her it - honest...!

What's one of your favorite movies? Goodness, so many to choose from. I absolutely adore Amelie - the whole thing is just whimsical and gorgeous, and I could watch it over and over again. I also love Little Miss Sunshine when I fancy a good giggle. And I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Oh, that's three movies - oops!

What's one thing you're looking forward to? Boyfriend and I are off to The Chelsea Flower Show in London on Thursday. Expect lots of photos of gorgeous gardens and flowers here soon!

What is your biggest fear? Fairground/carnival music. Just the sound sends shivers up my spine. And also not so much a fear, more of a general distrust of magicians, wizards and clowns.

What is your current favorite song? It's definitely not current, but pretty much anything by Fleetwood Mac makes me want to put on my dancing shoes. "Everywhere" especially makes me want to dance like an elderly great-aunt at a wedding.

What would you like to get rid of? Boyfriend's vast collection of cables and wires - they take up a whole chest. I don't know what any of them are for. Boyfriend says that one day they'll come in handy: if one ever does I swear I'll actually eat one.

What is your favorite thing to do on a weekend night? It would definitely involve four things:a glass bottle of wine, good food, boyfriend, and a movie.

If you had nothing planned to do today and no work, what would you do? A trip to London, shopping at the markets. And photographing landmarks (with my Holga of course).

If money was not an issue, what is one thing you would purchase for yourself? Definitely a house, with a garden to grow my flowers, vegetables and herbs. We live in a rented flat at the moment and we can't even put pictures up on our wall, let alone decorate... Our garden at present is a tiny balcony. Are you crying for me yet?!

What's your favorite drink? A nice cup of tea. Milky. No sugar. I've also known to be partial to a little big of gin...

If you had a different name, it would probably be: My mum and dad were hoping for a boy (I have two older sisters). Before I was born they picked out the name Robin, after my great uncle. Alas, I came out the womb without a winkle, and in a panic I was named after my dad's best friend's wife... The mind boggles.

Thanks Nicole! I tag White Rabbit now!

They didn't last very long at all...!

Listening to this and this.

Finished reading this and possibly used up all of my tears in one go.

Roll on next weekend!

Today...

...I have been pondering the mysteries of the universe:

I am no closer to solving them.

Life decisions, worries and dreams all seem so pressing today.

I think chocolate will help.

Have a lovely weekend!

Rediscovering Old Favourites...

I took some time out recently to listen to some albums on my Ipod that I haven't listened to in a while. Among those songs I rediscovered was Ease Down the Road, by Bonnie Prince Billy.

I had the pleasure of seeing Bonnie Prince Billy live in 2006, at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen. Sitting there, so close to the front, and able to see the emotion in his eyes as he sang his beautiful raw songs, I found myself with tears rolling down my face.

And as I sat, listening to my Ipod, I felt those same tears from 3 years ago fall from my eyes...

Slight height difference...

I miss boyfriend:
He is very tall; I am very small {ssh, whisper it: I am even on tiptoes in this photo}.

But he is my favourite person to explore the world with.

Saturday seems like a long way away....

Full and Bursting

{Photo courtesy of Flickr user: horsager}

Oh my. I've eaten so much food that I might actually burst. The worst thing is that even though I'm full, I just can't stop eating.

Somebody stop me, or at least lock the fridge.

I blame my mum: there's far too much good food on offer.

They're going to have to roll me on to the plane on Saturday: I pity the poor person that will be sitting {squashed} next to me.

Rain Rain Rain

{image courtesy of Flick user Tapio Hurme}

I guess I spoke too soon on Saturday - on Sunday the heavens opened and haven't closed yet.

Goodbye to long walks on the farms near here: I didn't have enough room to pack the frog eyed welly boots that boyfriend gave me:

So instead of the walking there have been: cups of tea and cake with my parents, visiting my grandad, and perusing Ebay for a new camera. I really want to try out lomography, and I'd like to get either a Holga or a Diana, but I'm not sure which one to get, or which is best for the beginner complete and utter novice, like me.

Is anyone able to shed any light on the subject?

Greetings From Scotland!

{image courtesy of Flickr User: PrairiePeasant}

This morning I hopped on to a little propellor plane, and took a trip home to Scotland to see my family.

Cue: walks in the countryside with my mother; yummy food; good conversation with my dad over wine; steaming hot baths (my little flat only has a shower...); and spending time with my nieces and nephews.

The weather is glorious (strangely so for Scotland) so I'm definitely going to be making the most of it.

I've left the boyfriend behind - alas he has to work and parrot sit (we have a pet parrot - more will definitely follow about her later!). I miss him (and the parrot) lots, but I'm sure a little time apart is healthy?

Photos to follow!
