Hello...

...I'm still here!

I wish I had lots of mesmerising tales to tell you of places I've been and people I've seen in my absence, but alas, I've not done anything newsworthy.

Instead boyfriend and I have been holed up, making our house a home. We haven't done too much yet, but have spent lots of money on supplies and tools and fittings. It also turns out I am an interiors bore, and could spend many a happy hour in the DIY store, on design blogs (hello Apartment Therapy!) or even just looking at baths on the internet. I even spent the weekend at my parents house discussing the best way to fix up my kitchen ceiling. I just wonder how this has happened to me - my 19 year old self would be horrified!

Just now we're sitting with bits of wallpaper tacked to our living room wall, trying to decide which wallpaper to go with. It's as exciting as it gets in the Red Boots household at the moment!

And not only content with fixing up the house, boyfriend and I have turned into something from the Good Life - digging up vegetable beds, and planting carrots, peas, beetroot, lettuce, herbs, strawberries, blueberries, and more. Boyfriend has also fulfilled a life long dream of digging out a pond. So yes, now we have a pond, though it's a bit of a muddy puddle at the moment.

So make a mental note - if we invite you round for drinks in the next week or so, politely decline. We'll bore you to tears. In fact, I'm starting to bore myself!

I promise I'll pop some photos up once we stop talking about what we want to do and actually do it, and once the garden starts blooming, rather than looking like a muddy trench!

Dear 16 Year Old Morgan...

Today's Dear 16 Year Old Me letter comes from Morgan at Pardon My Spectacle. I think you might just love this letter (and Morgan!)...

---
(16 Year Old Morgan)

(22 Year Old Morgan)

Dear 16 Year Old Morgan,

You sure are a piece of work. Most find you obnoxious but you are FREE. You are not afraid to be yourself and you have BIG dreams. You are so different from the world and yes, at times it seems very hard and like you are in a very uncomfortable place; but all of these events are only going to make you smarter, stronger, braver and much more wise. Keep making mistakes. Be careful with what you do but I promise you won't have any regrets. Not to mention, they make for great stories but even better learning opportunities. These will help you grow wise beyond your years. You come across like an immature, wild child but what most people don't see is the mature, capable Morgan you harness inside.

Don't let other people's opinions bother you. It's a waste of time.
Gosh the more I think about it, the more I realize how annoying you really are. GROW UP ALREADY!

Anyways, don't stress about life. It will work itself out. I do warn you, brace yourself for college. You will hate your experience but you will meet a life long friend which will totally make the horrific experience worth while.

You will date some serious A-holes and get a taste of life with the rich and the famous. You will date professional athletes and actors and become a little obsessed with money. Please remember money is NOT everything. If you don't remember this you are going to have some serious internal conflicts. Do not get too caught up in this lifestyle, do not get too caught up in your emotions, do not take these relationships too seriously, they are meaningless and you are only going to get your heart broken. But all of this heartbreak is going to lead you to the man of your Dreams! He is absolutely amazing.

I do have a bit of advice for you...all of the tears you have wasted so far arguing with your mother, just stop, it's never going to get better. Accept her and let her over the top attitude and remarks go in one ear and out the other. Always love her, she is your mother but do not take anything too seriously. It will make for much happier days. OH! And please please please, I beg you to work a little harder. You are so flippin gifted and you take it for granted. I strongly believe if you take a little more pride in your abilities and the effort you put forth into improving these abilities it will open so many doors for you.

You have the world in the palm of your hand sweetheart! Love life, hold nothing back, and GO FOR IT! I guarantee you will love everything that comes out of it.
One last thing, cherish your friends. The ones you have in your life are so true and honest, they will never leave your side.

XOXO

Your Old, Experienced, Been Around The Block, 22 Year Old Self

Thanks so much for taking part Morgan!

I was a little bit sleepy yesterday afternoon...

...so I curled up on the sofa, right beside boyfriend.

I fell asleep with my head on his lap.

It was the best sleep ever.

Some photos...

I did promise some more photos on the blog. So lately I've been playing with my Iphone (and some of the photo apps!)...

Snapshots from my journey to/from work:
I'm lucky to live by a canal. I love nothing more than cycling along the towpath - it's gorgeous around early evening time:

Sometimes it's the simple things I love the most - my little family, nice views and the wind in my hair :)

Keeping Your Girlfriend Happy...

Boyfriend got a little haircut today, the first in 8 months.

It makes me a happy Wendy.

And he's looking hot.

(though he always looks hot - just hotter than normal)
